Books
Just realised I haven't read a book in a while. I've picked up books, read them part way then promptly gotten distracted with something else. A terrible habit I know and one which I really need to deal with. Really do need more discipline in this area! My lack of reading books is reflective of a national phenomenom - media overload. We've all gotten way too many things vying for our attention, (or is it just me?) the internet supplying much of it. Back in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's things were far simpler. I remember having the TV set and radio, oh and a record player and that was it. There was no internet, no mobile phones, no I-players, no mp3 players, no cd players, no dvd's, no videos, no facebook, no twitter, no blackberries, no raspberries, no gooseberries..... we had to make do with the Tv, radio or record player. And we did make do. We weren't deprived, we were just fine. We were happy. But if some people had to do with only those 3 things we had growing up they would probably be extremely bored, get withdrawal symtoms and end up in deep depression! I think we all read a lot more in past decades simply because that was all we had and there were fare less distractions. I used to read Enid Blyton books, pop mags, girl's mags etc. Books about my favourite pop group at the time were read, re-read, read again, then after reading them again, they were read again! I never tired of reading about them. This is kind of what my bookcase looked like growing up. Anyone who laughs has absolutely no taste!
